Virginia-based Robin & Linda Williams, regulars on Garrison Keillor's Prairie Home Companion, are renowned for their uncanny, rich harmonies, hot guitar and banjo picking, and heartfelt treatment of both traditional and original country, bluegrass, and gospel music. Jim Watson (former Red Clay Rambler) on bass, vocals, and mandolin, and Kevin Maul on dobro join them for this rare Ithaca appearance!

In 1975, Robin & Linda Williams debuted on Prairie Home Companion, where they have been stalwarts in The Hopeful Gospel Quartet. Their gig list is a "Who's Who" of venues: Carnegie Hall, Grand Ole Opry, Austin City Limits, Mountain Stage, Music City Tonight, Philadelphia Folk Festival, Kerrville, Winterhawk, Delaware Valley Bluegrass, and tours through Canada and Europe. But they really shine in more intimate halls and coffeehouses, doing great "kitchen music," fresh and accessible. "Robin & Linda Williams shine like a diamond amid rhinestones; their sound is so sincere as to give the listener chills," writes David Johnson in The Boston Globe.

Like good neighbors with easy-going humor and no pretension, Robin & Linda make audiences feel instantly at home, but their talent is stunning. Their instrumental and vocal work is disciplined and impeccable, yet sweet and powerfully moving. They understand that simplicity is the way to Deeper Waters. Their nineteen recordings have won accolades and awards, and include many original songs that have become icons, covered by other luminaries such as Mary Black on "Don't Let Me Come Home a Stranger," as well as Emmylou Harris, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Tom T. Hall, Kathy Mattea, Tim and Mollie O'Brien, and The Seldom Scene. Robin & Linda Williams have given us a substantial legacy, indeed.

Garrison Keillor opines: "Individually their voices can melt cheese, and in duet they can do all-purpose welding." Add Their Fine Group to the crew and hear the sound structure they can build! It's been about 15 years since Robin & Linda Williams were last here, so you don't want to miss this concert.

Tickets are available at Ludgate Farm Market, Ithaca Guitar Works, Greenstar Co-op, Small World Music, Bound for Glory, and, if any are left, at the door. You may also order tickets online and by mail: SASE to CFSC, PO Box 481, Ithaca, NY 14851.
