Annie and the Hedonists in Concert
Led by vocalist Annie Rosen, whose voice has been labeled both honey-sweet and sultry, the Hedonists play the gamut of American roots music -- folk, gospel, early jazz, blues, torch songs, and even something that sounds like bluegrass. Although Annie and the Hedonists have been playing together in New York's capital region for more than fifteen years, they've only recently increased their touring schedule and gained a wider reputation as a exciting band with high-energy, tight harmonies, and creative arrangements. In recent years they have been featured at festivals throughout the Northeast, including GottaGetGone, Turtle Hill, and the Old Songs. In addition to Annie, the Hedonists include Annie's husband Jonnie on lead guitar, multi-instrumentalist Steve Fry (who plays the mandolin, guitar, keyboards, and an occasional flugelhorn), plus Betsy Fry on bass. Kevin Maul and his dobro will join the Hedonists for their Ithaca gig. Kevin has been called one of America's masters on the resonator guitar and may be familiar to many as a member of Robin and Linda Williams' Fine Band and the Burns Sisters touring band. The libidinal connotation of hedonists aside, Annie and her band are devoted to providing, "a little healthy musical pleasure," to their audience, and you are invited to join them in that pursuit. Tickets are available at Ludgate Farm Market, Ithaca Guitar Works, Greenstar Co-op, Small World Music, and, if any are left, at the door. You may also order tickets online and by mail: SASE to CFSC, PO Box 481, Ithaca, NY 14851. For information about the concert, contact
