Celebrations and Traditions
A recent arrival to the area, Marcy has already been seen performing at the Commons, the Farmers Market, Autumn Leaves, Borders, and Cafe Strand. Passing pedestrians and cafe patrons alike find the sound of the dulcimer -- and the dance of the hammers across the strings -- to be uniquely intriguing. At a special performance from 7 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, November 9, Marcy will present a varied musical program, "Celebrations and Traditions." The first half -- in honor of the anniversary of her first dulcimer -- includes a tribute to her former dulcimer teacher, music from her younger years, and some original compositions. The second half presents songs from Christmas, Baroque, and Folk traditions. Selections from Marcy's recently released album, No Loose Threads, are sprinkled throughout the program. The concert will be held at the Women's Community Building; admission is just $4 at the door. For more information about Marcy's music and the dulcimer, see her website (featuring clips from the new album).
